Burden of the bush: child poverty costing region $3 billion per year

The economic and social cost of child poverty in the Central West, Orana and Far Western NSW is estimated to be more than $3 billion per year, according to landmark research commissioned by peak social services body, NCOSS.

The study estimated the cost in the central west is about $1.9 billion a year, and about $1.2 billion for the Far West and Orana regions.
